PHASE II    FRAME 5:

Here we go again! The Hayates are back!
Frame 5 developed to be a kind of miracle. The Allies never will forget what happened here.
Its a good example for never underestimate a adversary that seems to lie on the floor!
The US went into this last frame with +8 victory points. A numeral advantage and masses of
heavy bombers. They went out with the loss of several ships from the Invasion-Fleet off Torokina
and a sunken Carrier! At least they got +3 victory points, not bad but a morale victory for the IJAF!
LTown played an important role on this incident.
Our attendance was good again and we could spread our pilots to other squads.
LTown got the lead of the special-forces and his job was to attack the CV "Independance", while light
JaBo-Formations dragged attention towards the Invasion-Fleet.
Before the US realized, what was going on, the "Independance" rested on the floor of the ocean. WTFG!
As in the prior frames we did our tour of duty above the Harbour-Area.
The US-Sweep was quite late and we were finally jumped by hi Hogs at comfortable alt. We were not alone!
A group of KI-61 (Me 109G) was located near and above us. Tho a little late (4 members were killed during the
action) the KI61 mixed up the complete squadron of F4U.
The remaining SOB´s (PIK, JD, USMC3 and me) dove for saver grounds and rtb´d Vunaku-Field.
After reupping, we gathered south of the isle and cruised at 30k (1st time in this scenario <G>).
We got contact to US-fighters that were slight lower than us and we started our boom on the highest Hogs.
I pinged the hell out of a F4U and he decended smoking. I got the kill later.
At this time we were 5 Japs in a sector with 44 US-planes! Time to get away.
Below us, a horde of TBF´s  raided the industrial plants west of Rabaul. On my escape i took a ping and raced
toward earth. Smoking, i made a one-pass-deflection shot at a TBF which started smoking. I took more hits!
Racing to the base i didnt realize the hi waiting P40´s. One swooped in and in the very last second i broke left.
Too late... i died in sight of my GL! Bad SA!

A dying Hog    There he goes...    44 US vs. 5 Japs!    Deflection shot on a TBF

This Frame ended as the last ended. Me ded :-)). Several others too but a total surprise for the US.
SOB did their portion in this scenario! Our E-Mail-Exchange was intense and did a great deal to weld
the Squad together.
We had great fun and it seems, some of us stick together for future action, KOREA is near!

Well done and THX to you all. Not to forget LUGSimotosan, he ever kept smiling. CU pals!
