The US-Carriers arrived! Yorktown and Enterprise were now able to provide
a massive punch against our Invasion-Fleet and our Carriers.
The Hiryu-Vals changed to Kate-Torpedo-Bombers. Unfamiliar to this
plane, we faced the challenge and took off to a journey that will take
us to the limits. About 28 sectors to get to the target and back!
3 groups of Kates plowed their way to identify and sink the enemy carriers.
The first carrier was detected and sunk at C4 (Ranger), HV reassembled
and raced north to C1 (Lexington) our next possible target.
Half way north we were attacked by 2 F4F. Our escorts have been ordered
south to protect our carriers, so we were alone.
After some bitter minutes of fighting all except ANDYH and me were
shot down. One F4F was shot down and the other fled
north. Andy decided to proceed north, because it was only 3 sectors
to go rather than returning to our far away own carriers.
2 sectors south of C1 again a single F4F attacked us. ANDYH´s
oil-system was hit and the F4F ran away.
Andy ditched his plane and i jettisoned my payload. I headed home just
30 ft above the water.
Near C7 (Yorktown) another F4F attacked and pinged me. As i completed
my turn i saw my former Longbow-GL crash in his F4F! A slight grin rushed
over my face :-)
Wow, ok, thats it, fuel hit! Many sectors away from home. But i had
not much time to mourn my fate. Again 2 F4F arrived and dove on my smoking
Kate. I think this was too much luck for one day. On my 1st evasive my
engine ran out of fuel. I ditched save and was killed in my life-raft.
What a pity, flying for about 85 minutes without dropping the fish and
being killed in a life raft. hmmm...
The US achieved to sink one japanese carrier, but paid a heavy toll
to our fighters.

Result: Both US-Carrier sank this evening! The Invasion-Fleet was damaged
but not disabled.
Both CO´s declared a tactical victory for the IJN and a restart
of the Scenario!
Frame 3 will bring another attack on Midway, will the result be different?
