OK! Not much footage about Frame 2 and 3.
I preferred counting sheep on Frame 2 and SOB7 went along
without me.
Boni5 finally found back to his roots and killed some
TBF´s . WTG.
SOB7 mixed up a Squadron of TBF with P40 escorts. A good
day hunting!
At last nobody found time to push the "9" button (dont
get that excited!! <gg>).
So no pics here.
Frame3 was a black day in its very meaning.
During our Harbour patrol, a US-Fighter-Sweep with superior
alt and numbers killed us.
Tuff lessons, but we learned fast and well. They should
regret teaching us the hard way.
Frame 4:
We learned, but we had to fly Zeroes this time. All KI´s
were downed the last frame.
SOB7 wasnt that happy flying a "Kite". Too slow, low
ammo-load, too fragile.
But this night, we should do far better than the last
Frame. 2 of us (JD and me) were amongst the last
remainders of 5 IJAF-Pilots at the end of the frame.
But that doesnt mean we survived :-))
5 minutes till endex we fell victim to the hording F4U´s
at Rabaul.
One after another:
Our 1st tour led us again over Simpson Harbour. A single
F4U covered us and surprisingly began attacks on us.
We avoided his attacks and he finally gave up, just right
to see whats coming from south.
A bunch of F4U´s arrived! We fell out of the sky
like bricks and SOB7 stayed intact. We gathered
again and headed south to meet some low F4U´s.
We pinged some but got no kills (?)
After some fighting, we rtb´d and reupped just
in time for one of the fiercest battles i ever participated.
B25´s attacked the harbour shipping!
Everyone of SOB scored. Most of the B25 were shot down
and many of the escorts died over the shallow waters of
Simpson Harbour. Crashing was usual here, just a few
feet above the water and a bay full of obstacles :-))
On the last mission for this day. JD and me took off again
and headed for something that looked like a fight.
Later i learned, there were only 3 other IJAF planes
up <G>! We ran into a flock of F4U´s and did our last fight.
JD again managed to shoot down a F4U, while i was twisting
with 3 Hogs, as usual the highest will get you :-))
Eventually all SOBs met on the ground. A good day IMHO
with good results against a superior adversary.
